| U14 CHAMPIONS ! | |
| Wimborne Town Youth 2 Poole Town 0 The champions finished the season in style, putting on a show for the Cuthbury crowd. Over 125 spectators turned out to watch 1st against 2nd on a sunny evening at Fortress Cuthbury. Poole needing a win to secure promotion along with WTY started a high tempo, which was matched by WTY, a succession of Wimborne corners from the right saw Wimborne draw first blood with a Dan Kellaway header, Poole responded with some attacking play of their own, which brought out a stunning reflex save from WTY custodian Jay Morris. Second half started equally as frantic, with chances being created at both ends. With both defences playing out of their skins, it was going to take something special to ensure the win, and it came from Lewis Murphy-Parry, who drifted in with the ball from half-way, beat a couple of tackles in the area, worked himself a yard of space and slotted home the 2nd. Poole never gave up and both Poole strikers gave the Wimborne defence some anxious moments before the final whistle. Full credit to Poole team, who played a full part in a fantastic game of football and we look forward to playing them again. Armstrong & Haycox, match day sponsors voted Wimborne captain Lewis Murphy-Parry man of the match A special mention must go to our goalkeeper, Jay Morris, who after 7 years with Wimborne has decided to take a well earned break; he started at under 8’s and to my knowledge has only ever missed 1 game. Thank you Jay. J Morris, S Reeks, A Hardy, C Langston, R Smith, M Titcomb, L Murphy-Parry, G Stuart, B Haynes, A Kelly, C Cutter, J Long, C White, J Mursell |
