Wimborne Town Youth Football Club

WTYFC U9s
WTYFC U9s spent 1st - 4th May Bank Holiday away down at Littlesea Holiday Park, Weymouth challanging for honours in the anual 7 a side competition -

age groups from U7s up to U16s and teams coming from all over the UK many would think that just being there is an experience on its own...

With the fantastic support of the WTYFC parents it wasnt too long before the drinks were flowing and preparation for the big k.o on the saturday morning at the marsh ground, weymouth

WTYFC started in fine style winning their first group match against Parkway, Birmingham 6-1...man of the first days play has to go to Harry Waite taking control of the first group stage matches on day one the opposition couldnt handle Harry Waite on the left midfield position, scoring a 4 goal rampage in one match!

this was soon followed on by wins against teams from Bristol, Birmingham, London, and Berkshire.... WTY were the only dorset side throughout the U9s.

day 2: started in the afternoon on the sunday... with WTYFC pipped at 2nd place spot.. what better start to a sunday match was 1st vs 2nd in the box groups and after qualifying, a semi final place against a Drayton Youth, Middlesex...being 1-0 down at half time it was or break and with the change of bringing on Daniel Hawkins, it was soon seen that Daniel changed the match and fed some fantastic balls through to Christian Pflanz and
Haydon Elsworth who at the front bossed and hussled their way through the defence to score some team saving goals that kept the campaign well and truly alive....
Fine passing from the defence line to the midfields of Harry Waite and
Daniel Hawkins were met by the forwards, Christian Pflanz and
Hayden Elsworth, both forwards didnt stop closing down throughout the 2 day event, which quite simply rattled all the opposition teams.
Connor Clayton continued the task with a goal going through four players to slot the ball bottom left corner... Daniel Hawkins completed the task with a quite outstanding shot which ended up in the top left corner..

The unsung heroes have to go to Matty Hall Diego Mora-Madden Josh Effick and that man Jake Stevens... who totally bossed the defence line and looked totally composed, confident and created a brick wall throughout, only letting two goals in throughout the whole two day tournamount.....

the final was between WTYFC U9s vs Abbingdon Youth u9s ( Berkshire and District 2008/09 champions and unbeaten all season) having two Swindon Town Academy players in their squad WTY were quick to take them out the game by man marking and making it very clear we were behind or infront of them!! ;)
the final score was WTYFC 3 - Abbingdon Youth 0

1st goal coming from Harry Waite, a superb follow up volley coming in from the right hand side, putting the ball in the top left corner... Connor Clayton followed up goal number two a near on replica of the semi final goal... Daniel Hawkins put the icing on the cake with goal number 3 pulling the defence out wide, finding space outside the box to shoot a rocket, to hit the top left corner.....the defence played a big part in all the matches especially being tested in the final, Josh Effick Jake Stevens and Matty Hall, blocked out all the oppositions attack and played the ball straight back into our attack, ... fantastic team work all round...

well done to all the boys who are now crowned south england sci open champs.

special thanks to all the parents who made the atmosphere and didnt stop chanting wiiimmmmbbbborrrnnneee toooowwwwnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!! throughout
